The press-to-handstand is a key gymnastics skill that combines strength, balance, control, and flexibility. Moving from a lower position using only body strength and coordination, it demonstrates a gymnast's power and precision, making it essential for mastering bodyweight movements.
and that’s not all!
Explore fun and challenging handstand shapes such as the tuck, pike, and straddle to train your body awareness, strength, flexibility, and balance. You’ll also work on your endurance holds to help maintain form and control with more skills and complex routines.
dURING THE WORKSHOP, YOU WILL learn
Longer Holds: This workshop will take your beginner-level handstands to 2-minute holds and beyond so you can work towards unlocking the ultimate handstand freedom with the two-arm handstand.
The Fundamentals: You will understand the necessary strength, flexibility, and coordination components to achieve the press and handstand shapes.
Flexibility Components: You will understand the core compression in the pike and pancake positions and their relationship to the press/shapes
Handstand Shapes: You will begin work towards mastery of the tuck, straddle, and piked handstand holds, as well as learn to transition between them.
A Guide to the Press: You will learn the step-by-step progression to mastering the press to handstand from different starting positions.
